It is a long-standing tradition in school that science and math classes are hard. Why? Several reasons:
1) Effective studying in science is different than in other subjects! Compared to subjects like english, history. spanish, or even biology (which is supposedly a science class), reading the chapter and knowing what the words mean are not going to get you very far. Teachers expect you to know how to do things. Doing something is very different than just knowing the name for that thing.
2) The report card grade is calculated differently! Math and science are very test-based. Little reward is given to an eloquent student; there are only rewards given for high test scores and correct answers.
3) Procrastination hurts a lot! Remember, your chemistry test isn't going to consist of a long list of terms to define and drawings to label; it's going to contain problems asking you to analyze something and then a large blank space to show your answer. You can't do well at filling in these blank spaces by studying like mad in a six hour session the week of the test.
After of teaching science I have seen over and over again the stories of students failing and students succeeding in science classs. You can greatly increase your chances of success with a little bit of tutoring. of teaching science I have seen over and over again the stories of students failing and students succeeding in science classs.
